Stanislav Szukalski - Mermaid
Stanislav Szukalaski was borin in Poland around 1893 and was recognized early as a great artist between the great world wars. However, much of his early work was lost to the invasion and he fled to the US and settled in Los Angeles in relative obscurity. Apparently he was not Mr. Charming and so was not well received in traditional art communities at the time. Stan the man was wicked with technical abilities, creative potential, and smarts. He tought himself english by reading National Geographic and created some of the most inspiring sculpture of the last century but never climbed to real fame. His artistic potential cut by a world in conflict but we are still nurtured by his touch.
Murals
This is a Mural I started yesterday at a house in Jamestown, CO. Today, I'm still working with backgrounds and thin varnishes but beginning to build into something. The stream running through the middle should be the tricky part but the efforts pay off with things like this. I'm looking forward to adding the color of the fall aspens and pine trees around the sides.
Knowledge
1. I use color print outs of landscapes to have as color gauges and the original sketch I made for composition and tone.
2. I use orderless mineral spirits to thin my oil paints. Its great for reducing dry time and creating thin varnishes.

A. Andrew Gonzalez, of San Antonio, Texas, is an award-winning figurative artist whose work has been exhibited in several countries. He comes from a artistic family and his work can be said to center on the human's sensual and spiritual connection. He explains "feeling the need to contribute transformative images of beauty to the collective imagination" and "by sublimating the erotic towards an angelic sensuality and by using ascension and rebirth symbolism, a sacred eros would emerge as the predominant theme of my work." Right on Andrew Gonzalaz, right on.

"Prometeus" - Jean Delville
(January 19, 1867 – 1953) was a Belgian symbolist painter, writer, and occultist. He founded the Salon d'Art Idealiste, which is considered the Belgian equivalent to the Parisian Rose & Cross Salon and the Pre-Raphaelite movement in London. It was a shame Jean was almost completely ignored and forgotten when he died. However his work has gained appreciation for it's oddity. Now, his fantastic expressions of otherworldly subjects holds artist imaginations even if your not a close follower of the symbolism movement.
